Employees of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) have been directed to return to work after a meeting between Public Utilities Minister Melford Nicholas, union representatives and APUA management following Monday’s industrial action.

The meeting brought together officials from the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU), including executives and shop stewards, along with members of APUA’s management team to address concerns raised by workers covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

APUA said the discussions were constructive and allowed both sides to clarify issues while reaffirming their commitment to continued dialogue.

Union members were subsequently instructed to return to their duty stations and resume normal operations.

The parties are expected to meet again on Wednesday, March 11, to continue discussions aimed at resolving the outstanding matters.

  1. The Union and the workers cannot take any chance with this Administration they are untrustworthy and really do not give a damn about workers this is something we have seen over the years a leopard cannot change its spots

  2. It’s all staged by the at&lu union to stop the monthly paid union from switching to awu union, so they pretended militancy on behalf of the workers, and look at the joke, the union guy of the ALP followed his party instructions to not block up traffic or the office entrance to draw public attention, and he pretended that he was getting calls from ALP politicians and he not backing down, can you imagine this union man could ever be not taking instructions from Gaston? And in the end he assuage the workers militancy telling them to let’s pray, that is actually asking you not to take any actions, how smartly orchestrated because that is telling you to abide with the situation until god comes.
So at the end of the day a little messianic charismatic speeches and exercise and the workers will feel their frustration has been vented and back to work, on another narrative robin has resign and is not there as anymore to orchestrate this high monthly rent and get his lousy $10,000.00 cut per month as described by the late asot on the recordings, so they are creating a situation to bring a solution to us , another Syrian or some comrade building to be rented again.

  3. The APUA employees are very likely to be the beneficiaries of their proposal because a significant percent of them are residents of St. Philips North, as they were packed there to secure consecutive wins for Robin Yearwood and the Antigua Labour Party. They need to push forward and secure and agreement before March 16. This is the opportune time and failing to do so will only earn them the real wrath of the Power-hungry Leader of the Party, when he would’ve realized that he didn’t need them whether he won or lost but one way or another, he’s going to regain his pound of flesh. Now is the time to force his hands.
