Parts of Buckleys remained without electricity on Wednesday after a concrete truck struck a utility pole, according to the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA).

The APUA’s Electricity Business Unit said the accident occurred at about 11:33 a.m. along the Buckleys Line, from the Buckleys Line Roundabout to the southern section of Island Academy.

The collision caused the Belmont No. 2 feeder to trip, resulting in an outage in the area. The feeder was re-energised at around 12:43 p.m., but officials said the affected section of Buckleys remains isolated for safety reasons.

APUA said restoration work cannot begin until the concrete truck is safely removed from the damaged utility pole, which will then be replaced.

The authority apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience, saying efforts are under way to restore electricity as soon as it is safe to do so.
