APUA Reviews System-Wide Outage, Plans Repairs and Mitigation Measures
The Antigua Public Utilities Authority’s Electricity Business Unit has begun reviewing Monday night’s system-wide outage, which left communities without power for several hours before full service was restored early Tuesday.
Electricity Business Unit Manager Andre Matthias met with team members to examine the sequence of events surrounding the July 27 outage, the damaged lightning arrester identified as the source of the fault, and the utility’s response.
The review also covered planned repairs and measures intended to reduce the risk of similar disruptions.
The blackout began late Monday evening and continued into Tuesday morning for some communities. It affected streetlights, air conditioning and businesses, with some establishments reportedly closing early as the disruption extended beyond midnight.
APUA said electricity was restored to all feeders and communities by 3:53 a.m. Tuesday. During the restoration process, part of the transmission line was isolated, allowing available sections of the network to be gradually re-energized.
Repairs are now expected to be carried out on the isolated section of the transmission line.

And just to prove how totally incompetent APUA is and that it is staffed with the worst not the worst when it comes to unqualified and unable staff. Electricity is off in the north of the island again on Tuesday night. Do people in this organisation practice at being so bad at their jobs and the service they provide or does it just come naturally? Sell this useless organisation, privatise and let a foreign entity buy and operate it because people here are really not able
