(PRESS RELEASE)

The 2018 Henley & Partners Hero Scholarship, managed by the Halo Foundation, is now open for applications. The scholarship is awarded to Antigua and Barbuda students who are academically able and who deserve special recognition for their humanitarian acts of bravery and kindness. The award aims to ease the financial barrier to tertiary-level education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The successful student will receive a full four-year scholarship in their chosen discipline — inclusive of tuition, accommodation and meals, university-related fees, medical insurance, and text books — at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The awardee will also be presented with the Halo Hero Humanitarian Gold Medal, bestowed upon deserving youth for their commitment to community and their dedication to humanitarian causes. The ceremony is held each year in June and is presided over by Their Excellencies Sir Rodney Williams and Lady Williams.

The Henley & Partners Hero Scholarship, created in 2015, is currently financing the studies of four young people, for four years each, at St. Mary’s University in Canada. Their areas of study include pre-medicine, politics, and business. The students have already expressed interest in contributing to their nation’s development through specialization in fields such as tourism and oncology.

Application forms and guidelines may be collected from Government House, Independence Avenue, St John’s, or downloaded from www.foundationhalo.org. Applications should be emailed to [email protected] by 27th April 2019.
