A 24-year-old woman serving a 27-year prison sentence for the 2021 killing of 66-year-old Jane Finch has launched an appeal.
Her lawyer argued the conviction was excessively harsh and highlighted inconsistencies in the case, particularly regarding the application of diminished responsibility when a defendant may not understand their actions.
Jno-Baptiste admitted to killing Finch at her Piccadilly home while experiencing hallucinations. Court evidence showed Finch was found with a pair of pliers lodged in her ear.
A defence psychiatrist reported that Jno-Baptiste suffered from Cannabis-Induced Psychotic Disorder and lifelong mental health conditions, including dyslexia and ADHD, which impaired her understanding at the time.
Her family maintains that her mental instability was not properly considered during sentencing. Even if the appeal reduces her sentence, she is expected to remain in prison for several years.

Give me a fucking break! She’s a monster and has no use in society! If the family could not control their animal and keep it from killing an innocent woman, why should she be unleashed on society??????! Whether cannabis induced or not??? Who is gonna stop her worthless, ugly rass from getting high again?
She should be put down like the animal she is!
I agree this woman should be hung by the neck till dead! No one sent her to smoke herb. She should never be let back into society considering the violent way she killed the lady. This is the problem with Antigua, no one is paying for crimes like they should. A slap on the wrist. These thieves and mursers need to die as an example to others. Must show crime do pay. We have gotten to much like America, Police should be given awards when killing murders and thieves!
