Wigley George, President of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU), has conveyed his delight regarding the forthcoming budgetary cycle’s 14 percent pay proposal for public servants.
The AT&LU, the longest-standing trade union on the island, predominantly represents non-established workers, forming the largest segment of the public service workforce.
George expressed his anticipation for negotiations in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and his joy upon receiving the government’s decision to allocate a 14 percent raise.
The government’s breakdown includes 5 percent for 2018, 5 percent for 2019, and 4 percent for 2020, benefiting non-established workers significantly.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne unveiled the 14 percent pay hike weeks ago and hinted at potential tax adjustments, possibly involving the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax (ABST), to bridge budgetary gaps.

Wigley, in my eyes you are such a failure that it is not even funny.
Is it true that you said on National T.V. that you will not be running again for the office of President but you have flipped-flopped again?
The union has gone to the dogs under your leadership. Even the very headquarters building is refusing you.
You are a disgrace in my opinion.
14 percent increases sounds very fascinating.Wigley do not count your chickens before dem hatched.I have some Beach Front Properties to sell in All Saints. Anyone interested in purchasing such properties?
Can’t believe you are believing anything this idiot says,George. Did he not promise civil servants back pay and pay raises last year leading up to a general election? Where is the raise? Come on man! This man’s track record does not bode well for any promises.
Why not insist that he pay full back pay owed to civil servants NOW, and not in some elusive budget cycle? The man is not trustworthy and you jump on this pre-election bandwagon. Go read ,”For your eyes only,” Wigley George.
14% increase for public servants on the heels of a by-election or possibly another general election with ” potential tax adjustments possibly to the ABST to bridge budgetary gaps.” So it’s like giving with the right hand and taking back with the left. Who is this government trying to fool? Another election gimmick on the horizon. Don’t be fooled my people!!!

I am happy to see that we are maturing as a people and not being allowed to be bamboozled by GB and the ABLP.
NOTE: not everyone can be duped, like them. They have actually learnt the art of DUPING, from experience.
This must be the new PRICE IS RIGHT show…..Mr George come on down!!! and get going going going…GONE
