Antigua and Barbuda’s Daniel Antonio delivered a strong showing on the opening day of the 46th World Armwrestling Championships in Albena, Bulgaria, finishing sixth in the Youth Men 100kg Right Arm division.

Competing against some of the world’s elite athletes, Antonio underscored the growing strength of Caribbean armwrestling with a determined performance that included a win with his left arm during the first day of matches.

The Antiguan’s result puts him among the world’s best young arm wrestlers in his category, standing alongside competitors from traditional strongholds such as Georgia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Italy, Ukraine, Romania, and France.

The championship highlighted the depth of international talent, with Georgia’s Tutberidze Avtandil taking gold, Kazakhstan’s Kassimov Toirat securing silver, and Bulgaria’s Rashev Ivo finishing in third.

Antonio’s sixth-place finish builds on Antigua and Barbuda’s growing presence in the sport, marking another milestone in the nation’s participation on the world arm-wrestling stage.
