Participants in a regional fisheries and aquaculture training course visited Indies Green, one of Antigua and Barbuda’s leading aquaculture facilities, on Thursday.
The course, supported by the Chinese government, aims to strengthen local capacity in sustainable fisheries management.
Farm owner Larry Francis welcomed the group, explaining how a childhood visit to Disney sparked the idea for the business, now run alongside his son Jared.

Trainees toured koi ponds, freshwater and saltwater aquariums, tilapia ponds, and a miniature coral garden, learning about marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and fish growth potential.

Chinese instructors demonstrated water quality testing techniques, giving participants practical experience with the equipment.
Officials from the Chinese Embassy, including Claudia Chang Yun and Doris Tingyi Qiu, joined the visit, underscoring the ongoing collaboration between the two countries.
Halfway through the course, the field trip offered participants the chance to see theory applied in practice, highlighting opportunities for the future of aquaculture in Antigua and Barbuda.
