The Government of Antigua and Barbuda, in collaboration with regional partners, will host the Environmental Sustainability Exhibition from April 28 to 30, 2025, at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Five Islands Campus.
This exhibition is being held as part of the 118th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on Environment and Sustainable Development, bringing together regional policymakers, development agencies, academics, and local innovators to champion sustainability in the Caribbean.
The three-day event, open to the public daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, will feature interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and community-driven solutions in areas such as climate change adaptation, renewable energy, marine conservation, waste management, and green construction.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday, April 28 at 9:00 AM, and will include remarks from CARICOM and OECS officials, government representatives, and leaders in environmental sustainability.
A guided tour of the exhibition will follow for delegates and invited guests.
“This exhibition is not only a celebration of Caribbean resilience and innovation,” said a spokesperson from the Department of Environment, “it is also a call to action—encouraging our communities, especially youth, to engage with sustainable development and climate-smart solutions.”
Exhibition Highlights:
• Regional and Local Exhibitors: Featuring nine local organizations alongside regional bodies including OECS agencies, showcasing efforts across key environmental sectors.
• Student Innovation: Projects from vocational and training initiatives like the Climate Leaders Fellowship Program, including hurricane shutters, park benches, and school bookshelves, all built with sustainable materials and tools provided by the GCF Build Project.
• School Engagement: School groups from Antigua and Barbuda will attend guided tours to learn firsthand about green jobs, environmental careers, and the importance of protecting natural resources.
• Interactive Demonstrations: Hands-on displays featuring solar technology, eco-friendly construction tools, and waste recycling innovations.
