Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced plans for a new national plant nursery at Painters to support Antigua and Barbuda’s beautification efforts.
Speaking on Point FM, Browne said 10 acres of land have been allocated for the project, which will supply plants and trees for public spaces. He added that the government aims to plant at least one million trees annually starting next year.
The nursery forms part of a wider campaign to improve the country’s appearance, which also includes clearing derelict buildings, expanding green spaces and installing solar-powered street lights.
Browne said the initiative reflects his administration’s determination to give Antigua and Barbuda a “cleaner, greener” image within the next 18 months.
