Antigua Sees Wettest April in Over a Decade Amid Climate Uncertainty
According to climatologist Dale Destin, Antigua recorded its wettest April since 2013, with 127.5 mm (5.02 in) of rainfall—66% above the long-term average—making it one of the top 10 wettest Aprils on record for parts of the island.
The unusually high rainfall came during what is typically the driest part of the year, capping a damp start to 2025. January through April ranks as the 10th wettest such period on record and the wettest since 2010.
Despite the wet trend, long-term forecasts offer no clear guidance. With the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) in a neutral state and Atlantic sea surface temperatures cooling, experts say the rainfall outlook is uncertain—each outcome (above, near, or below-normal rainfall) is equally likely.
Potworks Dam remains critically low despite the rains, underscoring the ongoing need for conservation. So far, the dry season (January–June) has already delivered 216.4 mm (8.52 in) of rain, putting the island on pace to meet or slightly exceed average totals.
Regionally, rainfall has hovered around average, though much of the Caribbean is expected to see near or below-normal rainfall in the coming months.
Officials urge residents to stay prepared for any scenario—drought or flood—by conserving water, maintaining flood infrastructure, and monitoring updates.

but the dam ran out of water?? wtf?
If they cared about giving us water they will fix the necessities to store the water. I’ve had all my tanks filled. APUA don’t care…..
I mean if you watch the table you’ll see….. “wettest April since 2013” what the graph from 2013 to 2025
We welcome the rain but if it was the wettest month it certainly does not reflect that in the attached picture
They have had many upon many opportunities to service that dam. Widen it make it deeper, what ever, and there were all sorts of reasons given why it was never done. They could have even built another dam. They chose RO plants instead which they can never get to work right,or whatever.. By the way what has become of Collins Dam???
