The Antigua Port Authority has honoured the late Sylvester “Socket” Henry by naming a newly arrived crane after him.

Henry, who passed away on 26 August 2022, worked at the port for 35 years as a crane operator and technician. He was widely respected for his dedication and professionalism.

Port Manager Darwin Telemaque said the gesture recognises Henry’s long service, and his family welcomed the tribute. “If Socket were alive, he would have been very pleased,” said his nephew Gavin Emmanuel.

Tributes also came from the wider Caribbean. Curtis Augustin of the St. Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority highlighted Henry’s commitment during his training stint in St Lucia and called the dedication a model for other ports.

The crane bearing Henry’s name ensures his contributions to the port’s development will be remembered.
