POLICE CONCERNED ABOUT INCREASED NUMBER OF MISSING PERSONS

The Police Administration of Antigua and Barbuda is concerned about the increased number of missing persons cases reported to them over a short period.

The administration encourages families to at least inform someone of their plans to leave home or be away from home for an extended period.

The public is also urged to report missing persons to the authorities in a more timely manner.

Recently, the police have received three separate reports of missing persons, including Keon Richards of Yorks. While the locations of two individuals were made known, Keon’s whereabouts remain unknown.

He was last seen on Wednesday, February 26 at his workplace at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort.

His mother reported they last spoke with each other sometime on February 18. He is 6ft tall with a brown complexion and weighs approximately 200lbs.

The police are in the process of searching several areas utilizing all available resources with the hope of finding him.

Anyone with information regarding his disappearance or whereabouts is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations at 462-3913 or call the Crimestoppers anonymous hotline number at 800-8477.

Meanwhile, police continue to seek additional information into the disappearances of Orden “Passo” David, Donna-Marie Christian, and others who are still missing.

If you have information, please contact any police station or call the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913.

  1. In a country such as ours with a viable social structure and strong rule of law, it is difficult to understand the genesis of this “missing persons” thing. I can only guess that this must be due to random criminal acts, misadventure while exploring, a desire to disappear and be left alone or not actually missing……just lying low and out of touch. It is very puzzling to come up with a “most likely” cause without the context of the particular person’s circumstances. Whatever the situation, it is a most troubling and frightening recent trend in Antigua and Barbuda.

  2. The families and acquaintance need to give more pertinent information; such as, whether the individuals are involved in any deviant type of behavioral orientation that might help to pinpoint a certain demographic of the population for close scrutiny and, resource saturation that can be employed to fret out or, establish whether there is pattern. The vagueness of the information given might lend itself to wasted effort and time; in the search and apprehension. Rational people just don’t randomly dissappear without a traceable lead– unless some nefarious motive is at play. The possibility of a serial perpetrator/s or, copycat actors might also be a determining factor , and no scenario can be discredited or, rule out until closure is met with certainty. Time is of the essence, and so to be dispose with diligence.

  3. In Antigua and Barbuda people disappear for unknown reasons .
The Africans disappeared in their quest to migrate to America
If we had a strong rule of law then there would have been independent hearings or investigations
A country with a strong rule of law typically has the following structural elements:
Clear and Publicized Laws: Laws which are transparent, accessible, and understandable to all citizens; which are stable and applied consistently.

All Government officials, institutions, and private entities should be held accountable under the law. No one is above the law. That does not exist in Antigua and Barbuda

A fair and impartial judiciary ensures that laws are applied equally and protects citizens’ rights. Ask Pompey about that one.
The legal framework safeguards individual rights, such as freedom of speech, equality, and protection from discrimination does not exist.

The disappearing without a trace of so many people questions if state is ensuring public safety and security; and the adequatcy of the Government protecting citizens from crime and violence.
Laws and regulations are enforced effectively, ensuring compliance and fairness in economic and social activities.

Accessible and impartial systems for resolving disputes and addressing grievances are essential. If your can’t pay a lawyer’s high fees take your beating and move on .
Both Antigua and Barbuda lack transparency and public participation in governance to foster trust and accountability.
In Antigua the syndrome that exists; is go see your Minister to get any Government service.
