In light of the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of MP Asot Michael, Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has issued a strong appeal to the public, urging restraint and respect for the deceased’s family by refraining from sharing crime scene images or unverified information.

Since making that appeal yesterday, photos of the deceased MP in a pool of blood and another photo of a young man, allegedly the suspect, have been in wide circulation.

Commissioner Rodney emphasized the sensitivity of the case, asking citizens to honor the privacy of Michael’s family, who are grieving the loss of their loved one while the investigation unfolds.

“This is a deeply painful time for the family, and the spread of graphic images or speculative content can only add to their distress,” he stated.

With the advent of social media, the commissioner noted that images and information can spread rapidly, sometimes without thought for the impact on those involved. He encouraged residents to consider the pain caused by such actions and to practice compassion in times of tragedy.

“Our priority is to conduct a thorough, respectful investigation. The sharing of unauthorized images or unfounded rumors can jeopardize both the integrity of the investigation and the emotional well-being of the family,” Rodney explained. “I urge everyone to act with responsibility and respect the family’s privacy.”

Commissioner Rodney further warned that publicizing sensitive materials could interfere with the ongoing investigation, as such images may spread misinformation and hinder efforts to protect the crime scene’s integrity.

He said law enforcement authorities are committed to a meticulous examination of evidence, and uncontrolled sharing of information could mislead or confuse those who may have valuable insights into the case.

  1. What Mr Rodney should have done is controll the ppl who were in the house an took that pic. Not now that it is out U asking ppl not to share. Who was 1st on the scene after the person who found him. Hmmmmm. #jussayin!!!!

  2. So when all them other people were found dead, murdered, stabbed, chopped, ECT ECT, it was ok for the pictures and videos to be shared on social media. Now that it’s a minister, “we need to carry out a respectful investigation”, why didn’t the police commissioner care about anybody else’s family and friends wishes or the victims respect? The MP was murdered and we are sharing the knowledge, this type of investigation especially should be public knowledge became of who it was and the gruesome manner in which they died. I have nothing against Mr. Micheal, God rest his soul but the public is privy to this information on the investigation. He was a man of the people and the circumstance around his death are questionable for someone who lives in such a large and “well guarded” compound. Things seem suspicious and the public is starving for information on what happened, anywhere else in the world this would not be a discussion. The police commissioner needs to focus his efforts on maintaining the safety of the pi luv he is “worrying’ about and all the corruption going on in the force that he himself is the head of.

  3. Yes people. This can actually cause the killer to get off on a technicality because they can claim that it is impossible for them to get a fair trial by an unbiased jury

  4. It is time that we stop paying lip service condolences and then circulating gruesome pictures of the victims. I remember some years ago, a Vincentian police officer was murdered and her nacked body was splayed all over the Web. So yes, we must stop. Would we want our naked bodies displayed over the Internet after our unfortunate demise and would we want our loved ones to have to deal with that while grieving our death? What does it say about us?

  5. Quite often we point fingers at the general public for circulating crime scene photos. But very often, those photos made their way in the public domain via the very people who are tasked with taking them and keeping them confidential. The general public did not have access to the internal rooms for the Dry Hill property. Those with access should be reprimand.

  6. I do get what Me. Rodney is saying but put that same energy into other people’s deceased who have been murdered in a similar way. The top dawgs get all the high ranks and high respect. What happen to other civilians, they are humans just like those Ministers. You cut me is red blood. I cut you is red blood. I’m truly sorry for what happened to Mr . Asot Michael and condolences to his family who are grieving at this time. Time enough the force needs to come better with proper investigation and finding the suspects who would have been involved in crimes. Time enough the force gets serious and do their work or else the public will have the option of just doing y’all work real talk. Y’all laps in many areas. There are a few good popice officers while the others are crooks. Some y’all need to be cleaned out cuz y’all don’t belong in that position. Once again justice for Asot,Achazia and Jessica and to others too numerous to mention.

  7. What MR. Rodney is doing last he should have done first.
How will photos of the crime scene be shared if someone at the very crime scene didn’t share it in the first place? HOW? ANSWER THAT QUESTION MR. RODNEY, HOW?
I will not attempt to tell you how how to do your job, you get paid to do your job, suck it up and do your dyam job, stop to crying crap and pull your socks up.

Now People of Antigua and Barbuda, what do you now think about MR. Rodney our Police Commissioner, is he really acting sensible in this case?
Does he have the necessary common sense and expertise to handle this case?
Please don’t answer these, just ponder on them…….

Oh, and people, stop share the dyam photos, what you don’t like for yourself or family, don’t do to others. How would you like to see your father’s dead body and his long ass tired balls hanging on side out his pants and he was not even wearing a dyam draws at the time of his death, would you like that ? Or your mother dead body with her slack holy draws with her throat burst open ? Will you like that ? And your friends all seeing the pictures, the whole world watching the slack balls or the holy draws….will you like that????
So stop your crap and be sensitive to the Michael’s family in their time of grief.

  8. People, it doesn’t matter who shared it first, last, or third. What matters is that it has been shared, and it is very insensitive to do so. Suppose it was your loved one. Would you want it to be shared? Have some compassion, people.

  9. “I can’t help but notice that the very first people on the scene—the ones with access to the information and images—are often the same people responsible for spreading these photos on social media. Where was the public at the time these tragic incidents were first discovered? It wasn’t the public there; it was the police or other authorities who initially arrived. They are the ones with access to these sensitive details, yet they are also the ones allowing these heartbreaking images to circulate.

This needs to stop. It’s incredibly painful and disrespectful to lose a loved one, and even more painful to see how they were hurt or killed displayed for everyone to see. These officials should be held accountable for such actions, but instead, they go unchecked because they enforce the law. This is unacceptable. We need change; there has to be accountability in our institutions to prevent this from happening again. Enough is enough.”

  10. People not going to stop ontill you all start doing your job and start locking up People a member of parliament died and People have the heart to share the death scene . You all jokers
