Antigua PM eyes seamless shift as LIAT 1974 hands over to LIAT 2020

The Prime Minister reported on his Zoom meeting with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and representatives of the LIAT shareholders, on Tuesday.

He told of his offer to purchase the three aircraft which the CDB owns, and which will be utilized by LIAT (2020) Ltd. now that LIAT (1974) Ltd. has been dissolved.

The initial talks with the CDB continue on Thursday, as the Prime Minister and Cabinet forge ahead in the resuscitation of the regional air carrier, LIAT.

Following the consummation of the sale, the three aircraft will form the basis of the fleet that will cause LIAT 2020 to become a viable entity.

It will partner with Air Peace to provide the much-needed intra-regional and extra-regional services to move people and cargo throughout the Caribbean.

  1. There are many factors that cause leaders to make insane decisions – actual insanity, syphilis, greed, corruption, invulnerability, self-absorption – take your pick.

In fact, sometimes they are begging to be relieved of this madness. So they get more and more extreme and erratic.

The UPP is not listening to these dog whistles from the ABLP leader. In fact, the leadership of the UPP is complacent and is not hungry. Labour or UPP in power, they have their nest egg.

They no longer hear the cries of the membership and feel to act. They are preaching temperance at a time when the temple is falling down around the people.

They need to move aside or be DEPOSED by those who know need and want to do something about the madness taking place.

Time is running out for Antigua.

  2. People cannot put food on their tables; many hardworking Antiguans are still awaiting outstanding wages, backpay and overtime (including former LIAT employees); pensioners wondering whether or not if they’ll be paid on their due dates.

And here we have our embarrassing clown-in-chief Gaston ‘Out Of Touch’ Browne going ahead with this outlandish airline purchase.

WHEN ARE THE PEOPLE IN WHITE COATS GOING TO PUT RESTRAINTS ON THIS LOONEY TUNE?

  3. What does this have to do with UPP? They’re not the ones promoting this lunacy. I am wary of anyone who gets on this forum and critizes UPP for not doing this or not doing that. When are the citizens going to take responsibility for what transpires in their country? A protest is called and they sit in their slave mentality and expect others to fight for them.
UPP did not take bribes and trinkets to re-elect these failures, it was, WE THE PEOPLE, who did. What a set of coward inundate this place called Antigua.
I can’t say Barbuda because they put us to shame. It is the people who are fighting not the council only. Wake the hell up Antigua.

  4. Why he no use the money and give the government workers them back pay owed from since 2019.
    And increase poor people salary.
Them politicians a mek thousands a month
And not even light bill them pay. Living lavish lifestyle and we enriching them with all them tax them kill are we with.
Time enough for Antiguans to open them eyes and vote fu the country and not color’s.
Time enough fu politicians start paying bills.
Time enough Antiguans stand up for rights.

  5. smh so sad imagine am waiting a whole yr now for sick leave benefit from social an it ain’t a lot a money but they can never ready yet wen u call them, these are things the nation should adress its like nobody care about the ppl of Antigua

  6. This is why a narcissist is so dangerous..they are dead set on proving their critics wrong, instead of just back off a little sometimes and just look at the thing another way.

This man arrogance got him in power, and it’s the same arrogance that will drive this country to the ground with his ill-advised and narcissistic decisions.

A bloody shame for Antigua indeed.

    • I don’t care how much planes Browne boy try to buy I wouldn’t be flying liat ever again. anyone
Booking a flight with liat is riding for a fall.

  7. Purchasing 3 busted up planes and Liat former workers are without severance? Here’s a better idear sir clown… forget about Liat,,, approve the base that Caribbean airlines wants to open in Antigua and hire back the folkszzz stop trying to play savior… the last man that did that died on a cross 1992 years ago… be very careful you don’t end up the same way…
