Over the weekend, Antigua news distributed over 75 school bags filled with essential items, including stationery, raincoats, and personal care products, to students across the island. This initiative was made possible through the support of Ambassador Dr. Dario Item and the Honorary Consul of Antigua and Barbuda in Monaco, Dr. Marco Garavaglia.

All observer do is beg money and suck de ppl dry. Dem worse than jtruth
There has been growing frustration regarding the distribution of back-to-school packages by various ministers in Antigua and Barbuda. The complaint is that only a select group of people are receiving these packages, and many of them are taking advantage by collecting multiple bags and then selling them for profit. This was evident during a recent distribution event in Villa, which was supposed to start at 10:00 a.m., but by that time, all the supplies had already been handed out. Similarly, in Golden Grove, a back-to-school giveaway saw the same pattern – only a certain group received the school bags.
This favoritism, often referred to as the “friend and company” system, means that rather than the supplies being distributed fairly, they are being handed out to friends or close associates of the people responsible for the giveaways. This creates an unfair situation where many deserving children are left without the school supplies they need, while others resell the items to make extra money. With so many children in Antigua and Barbuda, there should be enough supplies for each child to receive a school bag with essentials, but due to this system of favoritism, the intended recipients are being overlooked.
