Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation, and the Environment Urges Continued Vigilance and Adherence to COVID-19 Protocols During Carnival Season
In light of the ongoing presence of the COVID-19 virus and the approaching festive season leading to Carnival, the Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of maintaining established protocols to safeguard public health.
While the World Health Organization declared the end of the public health emergency for COVID-19 on May 5, 2022, the virus has not been eradicated, and the associated risks persist.
The Ministry acknowledges that Carnival often entails large social gatherings where individuals come into close contact with one another.
Therefore, it is crucial for the public to remain mindful and observe the established protocols. If you are experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, it is recommended that you wear a mask, particularly when in public.
This not only protects your own well-being but also ensures the safety of those around you, including your loved ones and friends.
For individuals experiencing persistent moderate/severe respiratory symptoms, we strongly advise seeking proper evaluation by visiting the nearest health center or care provider.
Furthermore, the Ministry urges the continuation of good hand hygiene practices, workplace cleanliness, and adherence to proper cough and sneeze etiquette.
Wearing a mask in public as a preventive measure against infection is strongly encouraged. Additionally, all individuals visiting the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, health centers, and other healthcare facilities are required to wear a mask.
The Ministry of Health urges the public to prioritize safety and well-being during the festive season. By practicing these preventive measures, we can collectively enjoy Carnival 2023 while minimizing the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Stay safe and have a happy and enjoyable Carnival 2023.

Having made this declaration, can business places still hold on to their covid protocol and demand their customers wear masks when entering their establishment? And can banks still use this as a reason to keep customers outside standing in long lines? I think the public needs answers.
We definitely need answers. And quickly!
I wonder what mcii268 is saying regarding “these fetes”
Love me some culture&covid
not you today
The Ministry is very late – the people had already declared that long time ago.
The emergency isn’t over if people are still required to wear masks.
From the Sidelines, have the laws changed? is the question
For those passport holding autochthonous Antiguans who were running businesses, and were locked out of the country by the government for REFUSING the trial mRNA vaccines; will we be fully compensated eventually?
In my case, I had to lay off around a dozen or so workers, and I personally lost a HIGH 5 figure sum of money due to not being able to return to my well run business, my family, friends and my home.
Praise the Lord I survived to fight another day 🙏
@Brix … Well run biz what … Stop trying to sound important.. no biz man can have some much free time on his hand to be writing the nonsense like u .. u were waiting for a box hand now u have to wait 5 more year by then u will be bankrupt… Idiotic political whore
@ Curious, it sounds like you enjoy seeing “brown” bottoms in the fields, rather than running their own businesses.
Wow! What a NEGATIVE mindset.
This is why I’ll always encourage Antiguans to step up and step out for themselves.
TRY IT SOMETIME … 👍
… And if I were caucasian you would not bat an eyelid, or say anything about my business knowledge or acumen. Ignoramus!
BAD MIND AND SLAVE MENTALITY AT ITS FINEST …
Covid is not nearly over as yet. Right now I have a nurse friend that has Covid. A week of two ago it took over an entire government department and a health related one at that. So those of us that have certain health issues we better take heed and continue to follow the protocols for our personal safety.
That’s because there are still cases coming into the hospital and the public treats covid like it does not exist while we are getting overwhelmed as the number climbs.
Covid is never going to be over — the virus can mutate into perpetuity — Thanks to all the geniuses that decided vaccinating the entire 🌎 with a prophylatic shot in the middle of a pandemic was the only solution. Had healthy young adults been allowed to catch the virus and develop natural immunity, covid would have been done. Now we have more immunnocompromised people than we did before the 💉. And they are the ones getting reinfected over and over with all the new variants. We better pray that a highly transmissible MORE
VIRULENT strain doesn’t come along. So, the best thing to do is to try and strengthen of your immune system; a free and most important way of doing that is by sitting or walking in the SUN with as much skin exposure as possible. Your vitamin D level and make the difference between a mild case or a severe case of covid.
*Can* make
It already started to rise just before carnival…. safe carnival guys please don’t bring covid home to the kids and elderlies
@Brix … Well run biz what … Stop trying to sound important.. no biz man can have some much free time on his hand to be writing the nonsense like u .. u were waiting for a box hand now u have to wait 5 more year by then u will be bankrupt… Idiotic political whore
