At the close of the High-Level Segment of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The call to lift the US blockade against Cuba was heard at the United Nations more than 40 times.
The speech that closed the marathon lineup of speakers who have taken the stage at the General Assembly since September 23th was by Ambassador Dionisio Da Costa Babo Soares, Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the UN. His remarks included condemnation of the long-standing unilateral blockade against the Caribbean country.
For his part, Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada said: “We denounce and condemn, along with all the peoples of the world, the horrific, odious, and execrable policies of criminal economic blockade. Aggressions with coercive, arbitrary, and unilateral measures.
“We reaffirm here our full and unequivocal solidarity and brotherhood with Cuba and Venezuela,” Moncada emphasized.
The list of countries that expressed their support for Cuba includes Brazil, Suriname, South Africa, Mozambique, Colombia, Vietnam, Angola, Nauru, Namibia, Guyana, Congo, Bolivia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Dominica, Tanzania, Uganda, Sao Tome and Principe, and Mexico.
They also mentioned Cuba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Jamaica, Belize, Lesotho, Antigua and Barbuda, Tuvalu, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, the Bahamas, Grenada, Burkina Faso, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Laos, Russia, Belarus, Eritrea, Saint Lucia, and Honduras.

On Saturday, during his turn at the UN General Assembly podium, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez affirmed that the blockade against his country persists and is becoming extremely strict.
“This is a truly comprehensive and prolonged economic war, aimed at depriving Cubans of their livelihoods and sustainability. Also of their existence as a supportive, cultured, and joyful people,” he added.
Anyone who claims otherwise is deliberately lying, he emphasized. The very promoters of this war boast of its destructive effect and its ability to strike at the living standards of an entire people from any corner of the planet, he argued.
Finally he also pointed out that “it is cynical that the United States government, for purposes of political and economic coercion, labels Cuba a state sponsor of terrorism. A slander that this Organization does not share, nor any of its Member States.” He recalled that the island has been a victim of this scourge. (https://www.radioangulo.cu/)

It will never happen. The USA doesn’t bow to external pressure. They are above it all. No country can touch them. No international law can make them do anything.
When will the world understand what that means. Just like Israel they are untouchable. No rules for them.
I think all the Caribbean government miss the point. Cuba is been used as a project to maintain hegemony over the Caribbean, it’s the tool used to control us economically for decades.
So it’s not that Cuba has a blockade, you should remember the Grenada crisis where they had their paid opposition politicians do the regime change by murdering Maurice bishop along with the USA arm forces and a bunch of semiliterate marionette politicians who got paid by the CIA to go on television in the USA saying they requesting help to stop Grenada Maurice bishop because he building big international airports and other social services to his people.
He wasn’t a dangerous man because he visited the USA and Canada constantly to speak to the diaspora.
Our economy would have been ten times better have we not been dictated to about the do and don’t that could have benefited us, the cuban nurses and doctors and even the Antiguans given cuban scholarship back then negotiated and implemented by the late Tim Hector couldn’t work in their country of birth, at that time V.C Bird and his sons were supervised by the UK and the USA to block the progress that Cuba had brought to Antigua by human resources, and this day 2025 the USA again ask to stop the cuban doctors from helping these sovereign countries.
The embargo is a facade used by the USA to maintain its hegemony of the Caribbean little boys and Cuba is the proxy to accomplish it.
This is why they live and die on Cuba and will never drop the embargo.
But of late china and Venezuela has entered the chess game and interrupted the financial strangle hold that the USA has been able to maintain over the Caribbean through their proxy Cuba, so now they are warning the political marionettes of the Caribbean not to do business with china or Venezuela.
Some of the politicians had been paid to go the USA way, the Antigua prime minister Gaston brown has accepted Mexican workers even though his Antiguan people need work, he uses the narrative of skilled workers, but they are the deportees from the USA that is really coming along with other regular Mexicans. The corrupt Kenya president did the same taking monies to accept deportees, he even cash in on sending troops to Haiti.
So the performative politics you see our prime minister at the United nation hollowing about lift embargo against Cuba, a lot a these same politicians are been paid by the USA as functionaries.
@Elread: Embargo? Nothing stop Antigua to trade with Cuba. Stop the Drama, USA is the 3 Cuba partner in Import/Export Gods. What is the source of most of the Food Cuban consume? Is from USA. Visit Cuba and you will see any kind of USA made vehicles on the road, food in stores that is being imported straight from USA. Cuba Trade officially with more than 120 countries sin the world. Just read what are the point this so called ‘Blockade” are. This pretty crap, Why Cuba don’t have more trade with China right now? Because What? Embargo or the way Cuba conduct business that love to borrow money, spending it, then refuse to pay back. Hmmm.
Don’t be naive in this Cuba matters, they love to manipulate the narrative a lot to avoid the judgment for being uncapable to open the economy to Cubans and remove internals restrictions to Cuban citizen to do better. They hate Free Market, and they Hate private Properties, that is why Cubans left Cuba to live overseas because any Cuban can do easily in others countries things than Cuba government don’t allow them to do inside Cuba.
