The Government of Antigua and Barbuda remains confident that the auction of the Alfa Nero superyacht will proceed as planned, disregarding recent applications for emergency injunctions.
Two separate entities and individuals have claimed ownership interest in the luxury vessel, prompting legal actions within the past 24 hours.
Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin has assured the public that these developments do not deter the authorities.
One application for an emergency injunction was filed by Attorney Andrew O’Kola in the Court of Appeal on behalf of his clients who assert ownership.
Another application was submitted by attorneys representing Russian citizen Yulia Gurieva-Motlokhov, claiming an interest through a trust company in Jersey Island.
The auction, set for 10 am on Friday, will determine ownership based on the highest sealed bid.

That’s the problem with this government! They like to do things hastily and always in a rush when it comes money. If you were served with injunction papers to block the sale of the super yacht which I believe you were served, then as a rule of thumb, the prudent thing to do is to wait on the court to decide the outcome. What if the injunction was granted and you still went ahead with the auction? What will happen if the highest bidder already paid upfront or make a commitment to pay in due course as determined by you? Will you return the funds in compliance with the court order, or will you hold on to the funds thus creating another international scandal, dragging Antigua’s name again through the mud? Not forgetting also charged with contempt of the court order. At the end of the day, you will claim that you were duped when it was your own doing. My advice to you is to take responsibility for your actions and do the right thing.
Remember DEAD DARG PICK-UP-CORN CA-CA-CAPA-SEE-TAH MASKIZ DUNCE PRINGLE did not support this Bill in Parliament!!
He can list 10 trucks on 1 invoice per 1 dead darg, but he can’t support the bill.
