Reuters) – A Russian missile strike has damaged infrastructure and an Antigua-flagged civilian vessel in the Ukrainian port of Odesa, the regional governor said on Friday.

Four people were wounded in the airstrike, Governor Oleh Kiper said on the Telegram messaging app.

“Debris from, according to preliminary assessment, an Iskander-M missile, damaged port and civilian infrastructure, as well as a civilian ship flying the flag of Antigua,” Kiper said.

The Iskander-M is a ballistic missile which flies at several times the speed of sound and has a stated range of up to 500 km (310 miles).

A market source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the vessel was carrying metal products.

Ship-tracking website Marinetraffic showed there was an Antigua-flagged cargo vessel named Golden Lion moored in the Port of Odesa.

Russia has struck the port repeatedly in the war since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Ukraine accused Moscow of hitting a civilian grain vesseltravelling from Odesa to Egypt near Romanian waters with a cruise missile last week.

  1. Many sensible Antiguans like myself begged and hollered at Prime Browne not to get involved with the Alpha Nero fiasco, because as sure as night follows day, when you poke or provoke the Russian bear, somewhere down the line they would retaliate or take some sort of retribution action.

I’M SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THE PM.

And yet, Browne and his ABLP supporters are more FIXATED at present with the so-called trails and tribulations of the UPP … go figure folks!

We are now reaping what we sowed at the last General Election by re-electing the now out of control Browne.

  2. LOOMING RUSSIAN CONSEQUENCES: …ANTIGUAN-REGISTERED SHIP-GOLDEN LION:
    …A MERE COINCIDENCE…?

    LOOMING RUSSIAN CONSEQUENCES

The nation shall shave known of ‘…LOOMING RUSSIAN CONSEQUENCES,’ and endeavor to avoid them.

    SCAPEGOATING PORT MANAGER

Given this development, one, including the apparent ‘…SCAPEGOATING:’

    (i) ‘…Antiguan Port Manager:
    (ii) …Parliamentarians: and
(iii) …Officialdom,’ might now reasonably ask:

    QUESTION

    ‘…Was the ‘…Russian Attack’ on the ‘…Seaport’ where the supposedly ‘…ANTIGUA-REGISTERED SHIP-GOLDEN LION,’ was reportedly ‘…BERTHED’ a ‘…MERE COINCIDENCE?’

LEGISLATIVE SEIZURE AND SALE- ‘…ALFA NERO’

Logic dictates that the apparent ill-advised ‘…SEIZURE AND SALE’ of the ‘…RUSSIAN OLIGARCHY-OWNED,’ and ‘…REGISTERED LUXURY MEGA YACHT-ALFA NERO,’ will spell trouble for:

    (i) ‘…All Antiguan Flag-Flying Ships across the globe: and more particularly

    (ii) …The ‘…NATIONAL SHIP-REGISTRY INDUSTRY.’

    CAUSE FOR SERIOUS CONCERN

This development may now be ‘…Cause for Serious Concern’ by ‘…AMBASSADOR DWIGHT GARDNER.’

  3. With hindsight, maybe I should have gone into politics rather than an up and coming businessman, Antigua & Barbuda would definitely have been better for it …
