Antigua Staff Earn Top Honours at Sagicor’s 2024 Awards in Grenada
Antigua and Barbuda was strongly represented among the top awardees at Sagicor’s 2024 Annual Awards, held on Saturday, April 12, at Sandals Resort in Grenada.
Team members from Antigua took home four major accolades from Sagicor General Insurance Inc, with Dierdre George receiving both Contributor of the Year and Employee of the Year. Gemma Howell was named Manager of the Year, and Aliyah Rayne was recognised as Rookie of the Year.
The ceremony, themed “Iconic – Excellence in Action,” recognised high-performing employees across the Eastern Caribbean and Belize. Staff from Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines were celebrated for their contributions to the company’s success in 2024.
Sagicor Life Inc’s Group President and CEO Robert Trestrail praised the awardees, saying, “Our brand’s strength lies not just in financial results or product offerings, but in you — our people… You are the icons of excellence, and your stories inspire others to follow.”
Across the company’s divisions—Sagicor Life, Sagicor General, and Sagicor Finance Inc—individuals were recognised for performance, leadership, education, and long service. Thirty-eight team members were honoured for service ranging from 5 to 35 years. Among them were Maureen Lionel and Veronica Poleon from St Lucia, each marking 35 years of service.

- Sagicor Finance Inc
- Manager of the Year – Jenne Theodore, St Lucia
Sagicor Life Grenada, led by Berry James, received Unit of the Year and Agency of the Year for Annual Premium Income and Cases for the second time in three years. Sagicor Life St Kitts and Nevis also repeated as General Agency of the year under Denrick Connor.
Paul Inniss, CEO Designate for Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc, noted that the awards highlight what distinguishes Sagicor: “A team that is driven by excellence, teamwork, and a shared commitment to service.”
As the company prepares to mark its 145th anniversary in 2025, Sagicor reaffirmed its dedication to celebrating and investing in its workforce throughout the region.
