ANR: The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda expressed deep sadness upon learning about the death of a United Nations official, whose body was discovered in his room at Jolly Beach Resort on Tuesday night.
The official, who has not yet been identified, was part of a UN team assisting in preparations for the upcoming fourth Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in the twin island nation, scheduled for May 27-30.
The Cabinet extended its condolences to the official’s family, noting that his untimely death has caused great distress among both UN staff and government officials with whom he had been working closely.
The conference is expected to attract thousands of delegates, including heads of State and Government.
