Supporters of Harold Lovell, the United Progressive Party (UPP) caretaker, marked his 70th birthday with celebrations spanning Antigua and Barbuda and the diaspora in Canada.

The Antigua & Barbuda Association of Canada hosted an event to commemorate the milestone, bringing together family, friends, and supporters who joined virtually and in person.

Lovell, a former finance minister and political leader, was described by well-wishers as a figure whose vision and legacy extend across borders.

“Distance couldn’t dim the joy — it only multiplied it,” a message from organisers said, highlighting the link between celebrations held in Canada and those at the popular Snakepit venue in Antigua.

The birthday was cast not only as a personal milestone but also as a moment of community reflection. Supporters said the occasion symbolised resilience, purpose, and enduring ties between the homeland and its diaspora.

Lovell, who has been a central figure in Antigua and Barbuda’s politics for decades, acknowledged the support, thanking both local and overseas communities for their recognition.
