The CDS, Col T Benjamin, along with a delegation from ABPA visited the proposed site of the Barbuda Port Facility where preparations are being made to declare the site as an official Port of Entry.
The visit focused mainly on the intended design and layout of the site and the vision towards its operation. Additionally, an area originally identified as a possible location for an ABDF Facility with a main Coast Guard function was also looked at.
The CDS entourage was met by the Chairman of the Barbuda Council on arrival to the sister island.
The site visit to Barbuda was also used as an inaugural flight with the crew of ALPHA1, a small 10-seater aircraft. ABDF is making preparations for the launch of the ABDF AIRWING UNIT.
This newest unit of the Force will increase ABDF’s capability to provide greater awareness of the Maritime space to include aerial surveillance, SAR Response and many other applications as needed towards securing our nation and economy.
ABDF is always #ReadyToServe the Nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
