The 75th Republic Day festivities in Antigua & Barbuda commenced with a Flag Hoisting Ceremony led by Hon. Consul of India, Mr. Vijay Tewani, in the morning.
The event, attended by members of the Indian Diaspora, was followed by an evening reception at The Chimney Restaurant.
Dignitaries present included the President of the Senate, H E Ms. Alincia Grant, Ambassador Liverpool from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Cabral Chief Protocol Officer, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Ambassador of Venezuela, Ambassador of Cuba, and officials from the Embassy of China. Consuls invited guests, and members of the Indian Diaspora also graced the occasion.
During the celebration, Prime Minister Browne conveyed congratulations to Prime Minister Modi, echoing a similar message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The enduring bond of friendship and strong relations between India and Antigua & Barbuda were underscored. Mr. Tewani, in his capacity as the Honorary Consul of India, expressed pride in being part of the world’s largest democracy.
He highlighted this year’s theme, “Mother of Democracy,” and encouraged the promotion of justice, fairness, and friendship between Antigua & Barbuda and the Republic of India.
