Celebration of International Day of Yoga 2023 (IDY23) in Antigua & Barbuda
The Embassy of India in Georgetown, accredited to Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla, and St. Kitts & Nevis, successfully organized the celebration of the 9th International Day of Yoga at the esteemed Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Senator and Junior Minister for Education, Honorable Shenella Govia, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered remarks on behalf of the Foreign Minister, Honorable Chet Greene, who unfortunately could not attend due to an emergency.
Senate President, Honorable Alincia Grant, also honored the event with her presence and actively participated.
Senator Honorable Govia expressed her appreciation for the positive and healing effects of Yoga, as well as the continuous efforts of the Embassy of India to organize regular events promoting and spreading the practice of Yoga.
She highlighted the growing interest in Yoga at the highest levels in Antigua & Barbuda and emphasized how it is being introduced and practiced in schools.
