Team Antigua & Barbuda triumphed over Team Anguilla 134-128 in the opening round of the 53rd Leeward Islands Debating Competition. Debaters Diamond Weaver and Gadija Buffonge opposed the moot: “Permissive parenting has negatively affected Gen Zs,” with Buffonge earning the title of Best Speaker.
The win secures Antigua & Barbuda a spot in the semifinals, where they will face defending champions Team Nevis at 9 PM on Friday. The competition, which highlights the region’s young debaters, continues to capture attention for its celebration of critical thinking and debate.
