Tourism Growth: Hotels at Full Capacity as Visitors Surge
Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector is experiencing a surge in demand, with hotels across the country operating at full capacity, according to Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez.
Speaking on Pointe FM, Fernandez said the strong performance reflects the sector’s robust recovery, with some visitors struggling to secure accommodations due to high occupancy rates.
He noted that even airline crews have faced difficulties finding rooms, highlighting the strength of the country’s tourism rebound.
“This level of demand shows that our efforts to promote Antigua and Barbuda as a leading travel destination are working,” Fernandez said.
The government attributes the increase in arrivals to targeted marketing campaigns, expanded airlift, and continued investment in tourism infrastructure.
The return of major events and a strong winter season have also contributed to the sector’s momentum.
Fernandez suggested that the high demand presents opportunities for further investment in the hospitality industry, including hotel expansions and new developments.
While the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) has yet to release official figures, industry stakeholders have acknowledged the rise in visitor numbers and strong forward bookings.
