Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union Congratulates Deputy General Secretary, Chester Hughes on Academic Achievement

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) proudly extends its sincere congratulations to its Deputy General Secretary, Brother Chester Hughes, on the successful attainment and award of his Bachelor of Laws, LLB (Hons) from Aden University, UK.

Hughes will graduate with an Upper Second-Class Honours degree. This represents a high level of academic distinction, signifying consistent excellence, strong analytical ability, and mastery of complex subject matter. It is widely recognised by professional institutions and employers as a benchmark of intellectual discipline, critical thinking, and dedication, and is often a key requirement for entry into advanced professional and postgraduate training, particularly within the legal field.

This significant academic achievement reflects Brother Hughes’ unwavering commitment to personal development, intellectual excellence, and the strengthening of the labour movement through knowledge and discipline. Balancing the rigorous demands of legal study with the responsibilities of trade union leadership is no small task, and his success stands as a testament to his determination, resilience, and passion for advocacy and justice.

The Executive, staff, and entire membership of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union recognise that this accomplishment will further enhance Brother Hughes’ capacity to serve workers with distinction, particularly in matters of law, industrial relations, and social justice. His achievement not only brings pride to the Union but also serves as an inspiration to working people across Antigua and Barbuda to pursue excellence through education and perseverance.

The Union further notes that Brother Hughes will be departing in the summer to pursue the Bar Training Course, a critical next step in his professional and legal journey. The ABWU wishes him every success as he continues to advance his legal training in service of justice and the working class.

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union commends Brother Hughes on this milestone and looks forward to his continued contribution to the advancement and protection of workers’ rights.
