Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Education, Sports and Creative Industries, Daryll Matthew, has congratulated the national Under-20 men’s football team after they secured qualification for the 2026 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.
The team returned home on Wednesday following a successful qualifying campaign in which they topped their group and did not concede a single goal.
Meeting the players on their arrival, Matthew described the moment as a proud one for the country and praised both the athletes and their coaching staff for their performance.

“Topping their group, conceding zero goals, and securing qualification for the 2026 Concacaf Under-20 Championship is a remarkable achievement for our young footballers and their coaching staff,” he said.
He added that the team’s success reflects the growing strength of youth football in Antigua and Barbuda and highlighted the importance of continued support for the sport.
Matthew also commended the players for representing the country with pride and determination on the regional stage.
“Congratulations are in order for making Antigua and Barbuda proud. The future of our football is bright,” he said.
The 2026 Concacaf Under-20 Championship will bring together the region’s top youth teams as they compete for continental honours and qualification to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
