  1. Workers rights or is it employers rights? When said employers are taking advantage of employees. This very union did absolutely nothing when I went to them about my situation with my then employer. 1 whole year I’ve been victimized every single month I got suspended and to date that union did nothing.

Unionism in Antigua and Barbuda is reminiscent of the history of unionism in the US when the Mob took over the unions and use unions pension funds to finance the develpment of Las Vegas.
Unlike the US where the government put the unions in recieveship, and jailed the mobsters; the GOAB is the Mob.
Las vegas is now a vacation destination for families. Miami had the same experience with the Medallin and Cali cartels. Now Miami has Art Basil and F1.

In Antigua Mob and the GOAB are siamese twins: one and the same.

The business community loves the existing set-up and so does the lawyers and the religious leaders.

Please forgive me if I don’t sound emphatetic to your plight. Until the people vote as if they are collectively the FBI and the US Attorneys Office; by putting The Mobsters out of business, you and others will continue to have the same experience.

    • Everything you’ve said about this set up, you’re correct. However I am but one small fish is a big sea of corruption. I’ve gracefully bowed out of the work force to try to sort out my huge bills and rental fees due to all the suspensions. I was told by my union representative don’t quit that is what he wants. Yet still she knew that’s what he wanted buy never filed my case with the labor department like she said she would have.
This island is a land of who you may know or the money you have to get things done.
