Antigua and Barbuda to Celebrate Sporting Excellence at the 2025 National Sports Awards

The Ministry of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries, through the Department of Sports, is proud to announce the opening of registration for the highly anticipated Antigua and Barbuda National Sports Awards 2025.

This prestigious annual event celebrates the nation’s outstanding athletes, coaches, administrators, and sporting organizations for their remarkable achievements and contributions to national sports development.

The 2025 National Sports Awards Ceremony will be held on February 28, 2026, at the Royalton Resort, under the distinguished patronage of The Honourable Daryll S. Matthew, Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries.

This year’s awards will honour individuals and teams who have demonstrated excellence, discipline, and dedication in their respective sporting disciplines, both locally and internationally. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

·      Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

·      Junior Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

·      Coach of the Year

·      Administrator of the Year

·      Association of the Year

·      Special Recognition Awards for Lifetime Achievers

·      Mind Sports Award of the Year

Minister Matthew emphasized that the awards represent more than just recognition: “The National Sports Awards serve as a powerful reminder of the vital role sports play in fostering national pride and inspiring the next generation of athletes. Each nominee and awardee symbolizes the dedication, resilience, and spirit that define Antigua and Barbuda’s sporting excellence.”

Chairman of the Awards Committee, Mr. Cleofoster Harris, encouraged sports associations, coaches, and individuals to submit nominations: “Our athletes continue to make their mark in shaping Antigua and Barbuda’s sporting history. These awards not only recognize their efforts but also serve as motivation to continue carrying our flag with pride on every field, court, and track.”

The 2025 ceremony will also feature live entertainment and special tributes to legendary figures who have made lasting contributions to the development of sports in Antigua and Barbuda.

Registration forms are available at the Ministry of Sports Headquarters, located on Factory Road (former Cricket West Indies offices).  All nominations must be submitted by the close of business on November 30, 2025.
