Antigua and Barbuda Tax Collections Surpasses 2022 Figures

1

Antigua and Barbuda’s tax revenue for H1 2023 exceeded expectations, with a remarkable 20 million surplus compared to the same period in 2022, attributed to increased economic activity driven by tourism and construction.

Economists highlight this as a result of heightened spending and investment, contributing to higher tax collections.

Authorities emphasize the need for improved compliance and efficiency, given the nation’s low tax-to-GDP ratio in the region.

Plans are underway to upgrade the tax administration system for online payments, though no timeline is set.

Property owners with outstanding taxes are advised to settle promptly, with upcoming user acceptance testing for new software aiming to prevent future arrears.

  1. Why do you print these misleading things? There is no increased economic activity in Antigua and Barbuda. There is no increased spending because people are struggling like hell here just to get by. The simple explanation here is the exorbitant cost of living, meaning people are spending almost the same, getting less and less for their money, but the tax collection is proportional to the higher cost of living. Simple really.
This government is as incompetent as it gets, especially the idiot that controls the country’s purse.
Instead of faking economic growth, do something to help in these torrid times. People would probably be apt to listen to that then misleading gullible fools into thinking things are ok.
