Antigua and Barbuda Students in Jamaica to Be Housed at Pegasus During Storm

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has arranged temporary accommodation for Antiguan and Barbudan students in Jamaica as Tropical Storm Melissa approaches the island.

Officials confirmed that the students will be housed at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel for two nights beginning Saturday, October 25, 2025. The stay includes complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner—with certain restrictions—and rooms will be double occupancy.

Students must present a valid Antigua and Barbuda passport along with their student ID to benefit from the arrangement.

Authorities said the situation will be reassessed once the storm has passed. If an evacuation becomes necessary, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has advised that a charter flight will be provided to facilitate the students’ return home.

Students may begin checking into the hotel from midday Saturday.

  1. Given the unpredictability of this storm and the share power that is being forecasted early next week, plus the 12 to 24 inches of rains that is forecasted and with it catastrophic flooding, perhaps a better move might have been to completely remove all the students temporarily from Jamaica. The Bahamas has already sent an aircraft to take all their students in Jamaica home. Perhaps we could have done likewise.

  2. I am not into politics, but one thing for sure as an proud Antiguan I can say this government that is lead by the honorable Prime Minister is doing great on this story and news front of taking care of our people abroad. Thank you honorable Prime Minister.

  3. Am not into politics, but the honorable Prime Minister takes care of our own. This shows how, why thank you sir. Let’s leave the politics out and give the honorable Prime Minister credit where it is due.

  6. Y’all acting like the man using his own money..owe please..another PR stunt to look caring. Pegasus is not a hurricane shelter, so taking them out of the island would be the caring thing to do . completely out of the path of this force of nature heading to Jamaica.

That’s what I would have done with the peoples tax money. The after math of this storm will be a mess, so what then? The kids needs to be home in the safety of their island and with their family, not some hotel. Free breast my back-foot

    Oh please.
