Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Education is embarking on an educational transformation by introducing a pilot program for Positive Behavior Management (PBM) in six selected schools this academic year.
This initiative, driven by a desire to cultivate positive interactions within the educational community, gained momentum after recognizing PBM’s potential to mitigate negative behaviors in schools.
Dr. Desiree Antonio, a spokesperson for the program, noted the enthusiasm of teachers and staff in embracing PBM principles.
The program, supported by UNICEF, aligns with the Effective Schools Framework, promoting alternative disciplinary methods.
A survey in 2019 assessed the impact of PBM training on classroom discipline practices, providing valuable insights into its effectiveness.
