Two senators from Antigua and Barbuda will travel to Trinidad and Tobago this week to take part in regional discussions on advancing women’s leadership in public life.
Labour Party Senator Kiz Johnson and Independent Senator Jamilla Kirwan will represent the country at a series of ParlAmericas meetings from 21 to 23 January.
The programme includes a gathering of women parliamentarians focused on tackling technology-facilitated gender-based violence against women in public life. The meeting is being held in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Participants are expected to explore practical areas of collaboration, drawing on the influence of women legislators to address the issue.
The visit will also include an in-person session of the Young Women in Leadership Regional Workshop, organised with UN Women Caribbean and the Caribbean Institute for Women in Leadership.
ParlAmericas promotes parliamentary diplomacy across the Inter-American system.

These two ABLP Senators are so fortunate.
INDEPENDENT SENATOR MY FAT ASS
We have to separate party from state.
There is no such thing as a independent senator especially if we go by the actions of Ms Johnson.
She switched fron independent to publicly being in bed with ALP in five seconds.
The world knows that the governor didn’t independently appoint Ms Kirwan as a senator.
Let us remember the PeeeeeeeeeM said that no governor general serving with his government can act independently.
So that tells us that Ms Kirwan was appointed under the advice of the prime minister.
Now the two have left antigua to attend a function abroad.
We are being told that they are representing Antigua.
That’s a lie.
They are not.
They are representing ALP.
Representing ALP and representing Antigua are nothing the same.
So there is two wrong messages in this article.
One is the issue of independent senator and the other of representing Antigua.
Don’t take us all for fools.
At least leave me out of that classification.
I am not a laboRAT.
Please correct that headline.
The two senators have left to represent the ALP and not Antigua.
Congratulations girls
Hope upon there return the where the knowledge
