The Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda presents its compliments to the Department of State and has the honour to refer to an article in the New York Times of 14 March 2025, titled “Draft List for New Travel Ban Proposes Trump Target 43 Countries.” The article asserts that Antigua and Barbuda has been placed on a “Yellow List” of countries “which would be given 60 days to clear up perceived deficiencies.”

The Embassy expresses its deep concern about these reports and respectfully requests clarification regarding whether the Department of State has, in fact, drawn up such a list naming Antigua and Barbuda. The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has received no prior notice from any branch of the U.S. Government regarding this matter, and thus, would be grateful for any official information the Department of State can provide.

In the event that the information in the article is accurate, the Embassy, mindful of the mutually beneficial relations between our two countries and determined to uphold these close ties, kindly requests details of any “deficiencies” perceived by agencies of the United States so that they may be promptly discussed and remedied.

The Embassy takes this opportunity to reaffirm that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda maintains a sanctions policy fully aligned with that of the U.S. Treasury in all financial matters. Furthermore, in relation to the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP), Antigua and Barbuda does not accept applications from any country that is currently on a U.S. banned list. All applications are rigorously vetted by recognized international agencies, including INTERPOL, to ensure that no applicants with a criminal background or current charges (including terrorism) are considered.

The Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda would welcome a timely response from the Department of State so that we may continue to advance and safeguard the valued cooperation between our two countries.

The Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Department of State of the United States the assurances of its highest consideration.

  1. When it rains it pours. Couldn’t get any worse for Antigua and Barbuda. This latest salvo from the UNITED STATES is a direct bullet to our heart…..our economic heart. The last time the US took such drastic steps against countries such as ours, it killed our thriving offshore banking and gaming sectors. Antigua and Barbuda is among 43 nations that the US proposes to put travel restrictions on. Coincidentally our Citizens By Investment neighbours St. Kitts/Nevis and Dominica have also made that auspicious list.

  2. There’s a reason we on the list.
    Why you asking for clarity?
    Eh..
    You know why?
    Eh, Mister pretender?
What’d done under darkness, and deceit
    Will surely come to light.
You don’t think its strange that whenever labor party in government antigua name always Inna something?
    Eh?
Wake up and start thinking my people..
This government is as corrupt as ever..
Fish start to rotten from the head🤔

  3. But donald shit wants to sell gold card access to America for $5 million. And there are Antiguans who support this white ass trump.
I have see the ones who consider them selves to be white like the pholip shoul dude in Antigua who supposed to have some big position as a diplomat in Antigua supports trump against his own Antiguan people interest. He should be fired immediately.

You think trump would have someone working for him that would be in opposition to his policies?
Antiguans will be negatively affected by this trump policy. Any Antiguan that supports trump shouldn’t be working for Antigua in any official capacity. It’s hypocrisy.
And at some point it will encourage a conflict and a likely bias resulting in an Antigua potentially being deprived of an opportunity or benefit.

  4. While I TOTALLY LOATHE DONALD TRUMP, I am in agreement with this one! I HAVE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS NOW, THAT WE NEED TO END THIS “Citizen by Investment,” program!! It’s a disaster waiting to happen. It is poorly implemented, and the revenue is not benefitting the citizenry!! END IT NOW!

  5. Unruly one, I agree. Failure to vet those individuals is,in my humble opinion, the reason for the uptick in crime here in Antigua, but it’s not too late to look into their criminal past and revoke citizenship or residency.

  6. I cannot say I am surpised. Every country has its sovereign right to protect its country and if we are not properly vetting the ppl who we give passports to, then we are creating a problem for others. So if we don’t do what is needed to come off this list. The US is right to ban us from travelling there. So get it right Mr. PM
