Antigua and Barbuda has been ranked sixth in the world for the number of tourists per resident, attracting an average of 12 visitors for every local.

The Caribbean nation’s position reflects its strong appeal as a leading travel destination and underscores tourism’s central role in its economy.

Vatican City topped the global list with 7,709 tourists per resident, followed by Andorra (117) and San Marino (59). The Bahamas and Saint Kitts and Nevis also ranked highly, highlighting the region’s continued popularity.

Outside the Caribbean, Bahrain, Monaco, Malta and Hong Kong reported similarly high visitor-to-resident ratios, demonstrating strong niche tourism markets.

Tourism officials in Antigua and Barbuda said the figures reinforced the need for ongoing investment in infrastructure and services to sustain growth and maintain visitor satisfaction.

  1. Wow! 12 tourists for every local really shows how popular Antigua and Barbuda is. Proud to see our islands getting global recognition. I am really really happy for Antigua and Barbuda.

  2. When a larger percentage of the profits are made to circulate within the Nation then it will be a win win for all. If so much money is been generated, then why all of the high taxes and fees? Why is do governments have to grovel for handouts? Why are public services so inefficient? Why do the governments keep borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars just to pour concrete?
