Antigua and Barbuda has initiated one of its most significant murder investigations following the discovery of prominent MP Asot Michael’s body early this morning. Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney provided an update from the scene, confirming the launch of a homicide investigation in response to injuries found on Michael’s body.

“This is one of those sad moments we must address as investigators,” Commissioner Rodney said, describing the early hours of the investigation. “We received a call just after 8 a.m. from a member of Michael’s household who found him unresponsive. Medical personnel confirmed his death shortly after our arrival.”

The police commissioner emphasized the severity of the crime, noting that investigators observed injuries on Michael’s body that warranted immediate classification as a homicide. The authorities are now working to determine the events that led to these injuries and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Commissioner Rodney assured the public of an extensive investigation, leveraging local, regional, and international resources.

“We will be engaging our partners both regionally and internationally to utilize all available support in this investigation,” he said, highlighting that the Antigua and Barbuda Police Force will mobilize the necessary resources to address the case comprehensively.

The police chief urged the public to respect the privacy of Michael’s family, who are reeling from the loss of a beloved family member and public figure. “We call on the public to be mindful of the sensitivity of this matter,” Rodney stated, underscoring the impact of speculative or inaccurate information on the family and the investigation.

Recognizing the significance of this crime for the nation, Commissioner Rodney issued a direct appeal to the public, asking for any information, no matter how minor it may seem. “This is a national event in the sense that everyone has a role to play. If you were in the area last night, saw anything unusual, or have any relevant information, please come forward,” Rodney urged.

Investigators are particularly interested in accounts from anyone who may have noticed activity near Michael’s home on the night preceding his death. Officers are canvassing the area, interviewing neighbors, and examining the residence for signs of forced entry or other critical clues. At this time, police have not confirmed any findings from within the house.

In addition to Michael’s family, who have been informed and are being supported by authorities, police have interviewed the household member who discovered the body. Commissioner Rodney acknowledged her distress following the tragic discovery, noting that she will receive counseling and support as necessary.

“Given the trauma of the incident, we are mindful of her condition and will ensure she and other affected family members receive all the support they need,” he added.

With the investigation still in its early stages, Commissioner Rodney promised regular updates as investigators gather evidence and examine initial findings. “We will meet this afternoon to review what we’ve gathered, assess our immediate needs, and determine the best course of action,” he confirmed.

The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperative, with the understanding that solving this crime may require collaboration from all corners of society. The police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to bring justice for Michael and his family.

This development marks a tragic loss for Antigua and Barbuda, as Asot Michael, known for his years of service and dedication, leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond politics to touch countless lives across the nation.

  1. Will Asot Michael’s alleged murder or assassination in Antigua be like the JFK – John F Kennedy’s Assassination in Dallas, Texas and it’s never ending #CONSPIRACIES?
Who’s going to be on the run?
    Who’s going to commit suicide?
    Who else will be murdered?

  2. “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

I am sure the list of suspects will be long and colorful.
Condolences to those who are left to mourn.

  3. Does anyone remember in my Intelligence and National Security Unit (INSU), I mentioned the importance of protecting and safeguarding government ministers as that is a national security matter and take intelligence affecting their safety serious?

I made sure I contacted every single ABLP leaders in Authority and of course they all ignored me, as always.

  4. So why wasn’t this high level of security put in place for the two young ladies that were senselessly murdered? Save us the crap and bs!!! Everyone is and was a human and NOTHING has been even remotely found in thier deaths so PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK!!!

  8. Does anyone remember me saying and contacting directly the PM Browne, AG Cutie Benjamin, MP Chet Greene, COP Atley Rodney, and others telling them there needs to be a Intelligence And National Security Unit (INSU) that is also in charge of safeguarding government ministers and analyzing threats against them?

COP Rodney ignored all my texts and calls. This man is incompetent and should NOT be at the helm of anything. Leaders listen and respond. I am a part of the public. I have homes and money on the island, and I was born there, so I should matter.

However, he got this incompetence from those above him, who does the same thing and ignores experts.

MP Asot’s death is to be blamed on ABLP and the individuals mentioned here and those others in authority who were given notice by me, as my way of helping.

  9. @My way of helping… You have been ignored by both parties for a long time. Your arrogance is one reason but I’m sure something else rubbed the key members of both parties the wrong way and as you know, they don’t forget! No matter how much you talk about it, you have no hope of ever getting a firearms license in Antigua. Even though you donated cameras to the force (are they even being used?), you are probably blacklisted from ever receiving a firearms license.
