Antigua and Barbuda Parliament Nominates Ian Hughes as New Supervisor of Elections in Unanimous Vote

Members of Parliament have unanimously recommended Ian S Hughes to replace Dame Lorna Simon as the new Supervisor of Elections in Antigua and Barbuda.

Hughes, currently the Human Resource and Training Officer of the Electoral Commission, received strong support from both the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party and the Opposition United Progressive Party.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne expressed confidence in Hughes’ integrity and professionalism.

Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin praised Hughes’ qualifications and impartiality.

The Leader of the Opposition, Jamale Pringle, expects Hughes to carry out his duties fairly and without bias.

The appointment is subject to Senate approval and gazetting. (OBSERVER)
