Antigua and Barbuda’s national netball team wrapped up their campaign at the OECS International Netball Series with a fourth-place finish at the ECCB-sponsored tournament in St George’s, Grenada.
The Dadli Shooters ended their run on Sunday with two tough losses against invited teams, falling 64–26 to the Cayman Islands and 62–14 to Barbados. The defeats, however, did not affect their final standing, as both opponents were guest participants seeking international ranking points rather than competing for OECS honours.
Antigua and Barbuda opened the tournament strongly, recording three consecutive wins. They swept past Anguilla 63–17, dominated Montserrat 53–14, and secured a commanding 60–10 victory over Guyana. That momentum carried into a 60–38 triumph against Dominica before the side faltered against stronger opposition. Losses to St Lucia (45–33) and Grenada (63–36) followed ahead of Sunday’s closing fixtures.
St Vincent and the Grenadines were crowned OECS champions on goal difference, with Grenada finishing runners-up and St Lucia taking third place. Antigua and Barbuda secured fourth among the OECS member nations.

The team clearly struggles against the bigger nations like Grenada and St Lucia. We need to focus on fitness and sharper passing if we want to close that gap.
Beating Anguilla, Montserrat, Guyana, and Dominica so convincingly shows the talent is there. With more support and resources, Antigua netball can go even further.
Fourth pla e does NOT merit a standing ovation! Sorry!
lol lol lol
well give them a sitting ovation.

Beating Anguilla, Montserrat, Guyana, and Dominica so convincingly does not show talent. Anguilla and Montserrat do not have leagues (too small). They play against themselves. Guyana is now re-entering the regional competition, and Dominica is in a major rebuilding phase.
This is what should be happening with Antigua.
They can no longer beat the Cayman Islands (26 – 64) team which is making a steady climb up the ladder with hard work and dedication.
The players only start to get ready when it is time for a tour. They are unfit and unprepared. They are not interested in submitting themselves to the discipline required to compete well with the top teams. They also need proper coaching and training.
I watch them train so I know what I am saying.
As a sport enthusiasts, I want to believe by now we should be way further ahead in netball, soccer and track and field, but here we are in 2025 applauding a fourth place team.
In the Olympics our star athletes can’t even get out their various heats and as popular as our soccer is at home, on the big stage we continue to struggle.
Growing up, I want to believe the hottest and finest netballers came from the Clare hall, Southerland, Wireless area keep in mind I didn’t say the best, you may have to travel as far south as Old road for that category.
