The Ministry of Creative Industries, under the auspices of the Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries, Hon. Daryll S. Matthew, proudly announces the Antigua and Barbuda National Music Awards (ABNMA), slated for February 5, 2025.
This prestigious event will celebrate the outstanding achievements of musicians and contributors to the nation’s rich musical heritage.
The ABNMA will honor individuals and groups across three macro categories:
• Musician of the Year Awards (MY Awards): Recognizing the best performers, producers, and contributors in various genres.
• Special Recognition Awards: Celebrating those who have made significant contributions to the local and regional music industry.
• Lifetime Achievement Awards: Paying tribute to pioneers whose impact on music in Antigua and Barbuda has left a lasting legacy.
Among the distinguished honorees are King Short Shirt, King Obstinate, and Burning Flames, whose legendary contributions have shaped Antigua and Barbuda’s musical identity on the global stage.
Additional recipients include Vinema Phillip, Junior “Jagger” Martin, Eustace “Gaetux” Harris, the Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Le Château D’or Music Academy, whose dedication has nurtured musical excellence across generations.
The awards will also spotlight talent in steelpan, vocal performance, sound clash groups, and music production, recognizing the best from the period December 2023 to November 2024.
Hon. Daryll S. Matthew emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “This awards ceremony is more than just a night of recognition—it is a celebration of our culture, our history, and the creative minds that continue to elevate Antigua and Barbuda’s music industry.
It is imperative that we honor our pioneers while also shining a light on the new wave of talent that is carrying our musical legacy forward.”
The Antigua and Barbuda National Music Awards will be a night of celebration, reflection, and inspiration as the nation pays homage to its musical trailblazers and emerging stars.
