Antigua and Barbuda Names Three-Athlete Squad for Junior Pan American Games
Antigua and Barbuda has confirmed a three-member team to compete at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, from 9–23 August.
The delegation will feature sprinters La’Nika Locker in the 100m, Ajani Daley in the 100m, and Geolyna Dowdye in both the 100m and 200m. Athletics events will take place from 18–22 August.
The competition carries high stakes, with gold medal winners earning automatic qualification for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games — an opportunity that makes the event one of the most significant on the continental calendar.
Athletics will be managed by Teddy Daley, with Chef de Mission Karen Joseph leading the overall delegation, assisted by Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee Office Supervisor Eric Henry.
The team is expected to depart later this week.

I was wondering if we forgot about the Junior Pan Am games, since it already started and no squad was mentioned. Good luck to our team especially my girl Dowdye, as a matter of fact am looking at three medalist right here.
You know, Antigua and Barbuda could easily become another Caribbean powerhouse in athletics if we were serious about putting in the work and necessary resources to make it happen. We have the talent but……….Jamaica’s success in track and field is not an overnight thing. It is a combination of cultural, environmental and systematic factors that created an ideal environment for developing elite sprinters. No other country in the Caribbean has shown the kind of dedication and commitment to athletics and athletes like Jamaica and the results really speak for themselves. Jamaica has a strong system in place for identifying and nurturing athletic talent from a young age. Sprinting is a significant part of the Jamaican culture. The country also boasts a number of world class coaches who have developed training programs that optimize performance. The presence of fierce athletic competition in schools pushes athletes to improve. Championship are highly competitive and serve as a platform to showcase their talent. The Jamaican government and tons of local Corporate sponsors support athletes through funding, decent facilities and programs promoting sports and more. Here in Antigua and Barbuda, all we do is give lip service to athletics and it shows. We simply cannot put so little effort in and expect good results.
I wish the team well and much success.
