The Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association is proud to announce that Antigua and Barbuda has been selected as a finalist in the FDI World Dental Federation’s Young Dentist/Early Career Dentist Leadership Program.
The Association’s submission highlighted its commitment to developing the next generation of dental leaders through mentorship, leadership development, governance reform, and continuing education.
As part of the final round, all finalist programs will be showcased through photographs and video during the FDI World Dental Congress in Prague, Czech Republic, this September. The presentation will introduce dental leaders from around the world to the innovative work taking place in Antigua and Barbuda.
One of the program’s most significant achievements has been the increased involvement of young dentists in the leadership of the Association. Recent governance reforms have created opportunities for Early Career Dentists to serve, resulting in four young dentists out of nine now holding positions on the Executive Board.
Dr. Jaleel Allen, the Association’s Early Career Dentist Representative, has played an important role in encouraging and representing young dentists throughout the initiative.
The recognition demonstrates that innovative ideas and committed leadership can have an international impact, regardless of an organization’s size. Dr. Deborah Akande, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association and National Liaison Officer to the FDI World Dental Federation, said: “We are proud that Antigua and Barbuda will be represented on the world stage, and we remain committed to investing in the next generation of dental leaders.”
The Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association extends its sincere appreciation to its members, Executive Board, lecturers, mentors, and Early Career Dentists whose enthusiasm and dedication made this recognition possible.
The Association looks forward to continuing its Early Career Dentist program as it works to strengthen the future of dentistry and oral health in Antigua and Barbuda.

Kudos to The Antigua and Barbuda Dental Association in nurturing young talents
As current and budding World Leaders in Dentistry; I would guess that soon Antigua and Barbuda will be able to offer off-shore high-end dental services in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; among other dental specialties like state of the art tooth replacement.
Rather than Off-Shire Gaming and CIP programs, the OECS should developing talent in scientific fields and research not only for our local needs but to meet global market demands.
These high-end medical services would dovetail with the tourism sector.
