5

Egbert Merril Thwaites, a renowned Antiguan photographer, has passed away, leaving behind a rich legacy.

His studio on All Saints Road and DeSouza Roads captured treasured moments for families, and his black and white portraits from the 60s and 70s are still cherished today.

Thwaites was also known for his small shop next to the studio, where he sold delicious ice cream cones to the Ottos community and beyond.

The area became known as Thwaites Corner due to the positive impact he had on the community.

At the age of 99 and a half, Mr. Thwaites is survived by his life partner, Eunice Rawlins, and his children, including prominent Urologist Dr. Dwayne ‘Baba’ Thwaites.
