(ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA JOINS THE REST OF THE WORLD IN OBSERVING WORLD RECYCLING DAY)
The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs joins the global community in observing World Recycling Day today, in collaboration with the National Solid Waste Management Authority.
This observance highlights the importance of improving how waste is managed, protecting the environment, and encouraging more responsible practices at both the individual and community levels. It also serves as a reminder of the role each citizen can play in reducing waste and maintaining cleaner surroundings.
Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs, Sir Molwyn Joseph, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, stating, “Recycling is not just an environmental practice; it is a national responsibility that requires the participation of every citizen in safeguarding the future of Antigua and Barbuda.”
He further noted, “Through strong partnerships and sustained public engagement, we can build a culture of environmental responsibility that supports both our people and our planet.”
This observance also aligns with the ongoing national clean-up campaign being undertaken by the National Solid Waste Management Authority. The Ministry encourages residents to participate where possible by joining or organizing community and household clean-up efforts to help keep their surroundings clean and healthy.
The Ministry remains committed to working with partners to strengthen public awareness and promote practical steps toward improved waste management across Antigua and Barbuda.
