The Antigua and Barbuda government has addressed concerns over the return of nationals from the United States under new deportation measures but says it is too early to determine the exact number of individuals who will be affected.

Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, Lionel Hurst, said authorities have been in contact with U.S. officials regarding the deportation process but emphasized that no firm figures have been confirmed.

“We don’t know that 110 people will be returned,” Hurst said. “Part of the reason they have not yet been returned is that U.S. authorities have not been able to find all of those individuals who have overstayed their time.”

Hurst noted that the government is prepared to assist those who are repatriated but will wait for more details before outlining specific support measures.

“Whenever they plan to send a batch of persons back, they are in touch with our embassy in Washington, D.C.,” he said. “They provide names and passport numbers, and we verify that these individuals are indeed Antigua and Barbuda citizens.”

The level of support offered will depend on the needs of those returning.

“If they are employable, they may be assisted with reintegration into the workforce,” Hurst explained. “However, if there are elderly individuals, as was the case in the UK with the Windrush generation, then their circumstances will be different.”

The government has assured that it will monitor the situation closely and respond as necessary once more details become available.

  1. TRUMP isn’t doing anything wrong. It’s illegal to overstay your visa. What Antigua needs to do is implement the same procedures! 56% of Antigua s population are foreigners (mostly 🇯🇲 🇬🇾 and🇩🇴 ). The vast majority of crimes and homicides in the country are by these people. Half of them are in Antigua illegally and they have no respect for our island or culture. WAKE UP WADADLIANS!

  2. They broke America’s laws. Now deal with it.
