Antigua and Barbuda’s government is investing in modern agricultural equipment to support local farmers and strengthen food security.
Officials say the machinery, expected to arrive within months, will improve productivity, promote sustainable farming, and help farmers meet growing food demands.
The move comes amid concerns over supply chains and the need for more efficient farming methods.
The initiative is also expected to create jobs and enhance competitiveness in the agricultural sector.
Farmers have welcomed the support, saying it could significantly improve their operations.

Great work by the government, is it a socialist system? It’s time the farmers become autonomous, either they call on the government to negotiate by startup agriculture equipment from china and Russia and lease to farmers , food production is not taken seriously, and don’t allow Israel to donate or assist our agriculture system, they are pernicious, they will bring Monsanto GMO and chemical to kill our soil, they are are ethno supremacists nations that has been handicapping us.
What kind of equipment? Hopefully not the wheat harvester in your photo.
Here’s an idea if it’s not already implemented…
Minister of Agriculture needs to survey farmers to determine what equipment is most needed.
Rotate the equipment by loaning to each farmer for a week or two…If the farmer breaks, it he pays to fix it.
The government keeps the equipment in a centralized location, services the equipment and manages logistics.
Farming is hard especially in Antigua and Barbuda where there seem to only be sun and dry land. Vegetation needs water and unless we get the water under control the we suck a duck
Gigi perfect observation.
The way Trump moving we better learn how to be self-sufficient. I strongly support backyard gardening and eating what we grow. that’s where it starts
