The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission wishes to publicly extend its sincere apologies to Ms. Jamona Samuel following an administrative error that occurred during the communication process related to the screening for the 2026 Queen of Carnival competition.

Following the completion of the screening process, an official congratulatory correspondence was mistakenly issued to Ms. Samuel, indicating that she had been selected as a contestant in the 2026 Queen of Carnival competition. The Commission acknowledges that this communication was sent in error and deeply regrets the disappointment and emotional distress it caused.

The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission recognizes the importance of the Queen of Carnival platform and understands the dedication, preparation, and personal investment shown by all young women who put themselves forward for consideration. Accordingly, we acknowledge that the situation experienced by Ms. Samuel fell below the standard of professionalism and care that participants are entitled to expect.

The Commission takes full responsibility for this error and offers its sincerest apology to Ms Samuel for the impact this incident has had on her experience.

The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission remains committed to strengthening internal communication and operational procedures to ensure greater accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

We thank Ms. Samuel for raising her concerns and once again extend our sincere apologies.

  1. Sorry we got you all excited and had your hopes high….It was an accident…..IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT!! THE UNIVERSE SPOKE!! SHE’S A QUEEN!!!

  2. I think that the solution was simple. You sent out communication stating that this individual was selected and if this caused there to be more contestants than originally planned for, just create the room for one more and move on.

  3. I toatlly agree that the commission must make an extra space available forthis young lady. This is a life time disappointment and humiliation from this unthinkable error. What if this lady seeks legal redress in the court for pain and suffering after this humiliation.

  4. No,,,, !
    No !
You have to bite this bullet,,, commission.
“And for the first time in 2026 we have 2”. …..
Should be the next commission announcement

  5. That apology wouldn’t suffice. That’s carelessness and must have affect the woman mentally

  6. What more should they do over an administrative error. Is she so fragile that she can’t recognise a mistake? Why is this even a news article anyway? We live in a technological age and mistakes happen!

  7. They humiliate the young lady even more by making it public ..shame on the writer shermain as well. ..
