Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Minister, E.P. Chet Greene, has urged stronger cooperation between China, Latin America and the Caribbean, warning that global tensions risk severely impacting the Global South.

Speaking at the 4th China-CELAC Forum in Beijing, Mr Greene said unchecked geopolitical strains could surpass the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He called for unity and multilateral action, particularly on issues such as climate change, food security and pandemic preparedness.

The minister expressed support for the Beijing Declaration 2025 and the China-CELAC Joint Action Plan (2025–2027), which focus on deepening trade and cooperation in education, technology and climate resilience.

The Antigua and Barbuda delegation included senior officials, underlining the country’s commitment to advancing regional dialogue and development.

  1. While we in Antigua cower in fear of the “great” USA with its president recently accepting a personal gift of a private jet plane from Qatar! – a blatant (US) constitutional no-no!
Why do we keep insisting that we need an Opposition Partybin Antigua and Barbuda to ensure progress??

  2. When ANR go understand nabaddy warn hear nutten bout Chet Greene an wah he haffu say. R U dif or if R U no understand deaf

  3. I do hope that the Foreign Affairs Minister do understand and realise, that you can’t serve two masters, and that by 2027, China will begins to asserts itself in the Caribbean, in order to gain Global Supremacy, and there is when Antigua and Barbuda will have to show it’s position by supporting, either China or the United States.
Not withstanding, the Chinese has already constructed one of its largest Embassies any where in the world, here Antigua, which I am sure they will be uterlising to gain dominance in the Caribbean Sea.
It must be understood, that no other Country in the Caribbean, has endeared themselves to aid in the Chinese “Strategic War Plans”, than Antigua and Barbuda, which I am sure.will have negative consequences for this Country in the not too distant future.
The Foreign Affairs Minister I am sure, is now quite uneasy with his Proclamations, and empty Rhetoric, knowing that Antigua and Barbuda is closely watched by China’s adversary, the United States.
